From his breakthrough commercial restaurant project TAO Asian Bistro in Manhattan to the celebrity-packed Koi in Los Angeles, Thomas Schoos has left his mark on many of the most talked-about restaurants in the country. Schoos’ rugs for ARZU STUDIO HOPE celebrate handmade Afghan artistry inspired by modern creativity and exquisite design; fusing a classic custom with contemporary expression.
“A beautiful hand-woven rug is the ideal canvas to bring together the stunning elements of nature and the outdoors into an interior location,” says Schoos.
Thomas Schoos’ collection of designs represents the organic beauty found in the natural world. Schoos began working with ARZU STUDIO HOPE in 2007. Winter and Rust are part of his first four eco-friendly set of designs entitled “The Nature Line,” which showcase Schoos’ chic and eclectic style. He has since expanded his collection to include 11 new modern rug designs for ARZU STUDIO HOPE, including Africo, Links, Blocked and Leaves.
In 2003, Schoos and business partner Michael Berman opened O-Bar, not only designed by Schoos but also owned and operated by the partners. The seductive venue won widespread acclaim for both cuisine and design, earning “Best Restaurant Design” from Angeleno magazine in 2004. Schoos also recently transformed Santa Monica’s Huntley Hotel into one of L.A.’s most chic and sophisticated boutique hostelries, which was recently named by Condé Nast Traveler in its 10th Annual “Hot List,” of the World’s Top New Hotels. However, Schoos does not limit himself, continuing to expand the TSD lifestyle brand with a host of unique and diverse projects, such as a line of fabrics available through Valley Forge.
In addition to his lifestyle brand, Schoos is also lending his creative genius to two highly anticipated San Francisco hotels, the Hotel Frank and The Vertigo Hotel, slated to open in 2009. Named by Vegas Magazine as one of “The Men Who Make Nightclub Magic,” Schoos has designed a number of the must popular restaurants and nightclubs in Las Vegas, including LAX Nightclub and Flight Bar at the Luxor, and Tao at the Venetian, which was the highest grossing restaurant/nightclub in the country in 2008. With his endearing accent and undeniable charisma, Schoos has positioned himself as the iconic go-to designer for innovative and globally inspired works of art. Visit www.schoos.com to learn more.
