Muesar, 44, lives in Andkhoi with her husband, five children and nine in-laws. In the late 1990s, the Taliban seized the family’s property and other assets. In addition to losing all that was familiar, many of Mueasar’s relatives developed mental health problems. Now, Mueasar is grateful for ARZU’s work. “ARZU has saved us from misfortunes in this life. I have long since had a connection with Hope - a Tribal Heirloom rug and the cornerstone of our rug collection. The pattern dates back to 500B.C. and possesses a history rich with tradition and artistry. I have a Hope rug in my home and, even after all these years, it still reminds me that hope is what guides us all.
