Muesar, 44, lives in Andkhoi with her husband, five children and nine in-laws. In the late 1990s, the Taliban seized the family’s property and other assets. In addition to losing all that was familiar, many of Mueasar’s relatives developed mental health problems. Now, Mueasar is grateful for ARZU’s work. “ARZU has saved us from misfortunes in this life. The traditional tribal patterns so easily find a home in my 1912 house, but I am growing to adore the contemporary ARZU STUDIO HOPE rugs. We have Blend in our front entrance hall and the buttery wool background strewn with sea green pattern is not just decorative but is an invitation to walk right in and maybe even sit down on the rug itself. These rugs are teaching me how to mix old and new in my home.
